About me

June Lanigan established Straffan Physiotherapy in 2020. She is a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with over 20 years’ experience. Her special interests are in back pain and neck pain and breast cancer rehabilitation.  Her aim to is empower you to feel your best by ensuring you are involved in every aspect of your care. Understanding your condition is crucial in your recovery.  Your treatment will be individually tailored to you based on the best quality, up to date research. She works closely with Neurosurgery, Rheumatology and Orthopaedic Consultants to ensure seamless care should you require an onward referral.   


June qualified from the University of Bradford, UK in 2002 with a BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy. 
She gained an IFOMPT recognised Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with distinction at Coventry University, UK in 2005. She was awarded a MACP award for best research project for her Masters research. 


She has worked in University Hospital Waterford, Rugby Physiotherapy Practice, Leinster Rugby, private practice in Dublin, Naas General Hospital, and Tallaght University Hospital.  She worked as a Physiotherapy Practice Tutor with UCD in Naas General Hospital. Here she led the clinical education of undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy students and assisted in curriculum development of UCD’s Physiotherapy degree. 

Most recently, she worked as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Spinal Triage at Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin. This role involved working closely with spinal surgeons in the specialist assessment, diagnosis and triage of complex back and neck pain presentations. She provides specialist rehabilitation for complex back pain and neck pain presentations and other conditions. She also provides a consultative service to Physiotherapists in the assessment and management of complex back pain and neck pain presentations.


June has completed specialised training in rehab following breast cancer.  She provides support and guidance during recovery from breast cancer, including monitoring for lymphoedema, improving flexibility and re-gaining strength, fitness and managing fatigue.

June is married and a Mum to 3 girls. When she’s not working, she can be spotted running around Straffan with her rescue greyhound Mia.  She also enjoys drawing and painting and has exhibited in Dubin and Kildare.
